Don’t Make Network Marketing Cheap

Yesterday I got a phone-call from a friend. It went something like this:

"Hi Drikus it’s the first time in five years that I’m looking at a network marketing opportunity again. You just pay a certain amount of money and the system do the rest.

The lady who introduced me to this is a high-flyer and her upline is making over 800 000 a month. You must have a look at this, here is the website adress…"

Ok so here I am thinking to myself, what a lot of crap. Immediately I realized that I felt exactly the same as thousands of people who are introduced to probably very legitimate opportunities, but in such a wrong way that I couldn’t help to think it is a scam.

Well to tell you the truth, that feeling haven’t changed yet. The point I’m trying to make is although I’m probably the most passionate network marketer on earth, my defence system kicks in just like anybody else’s when something sounds to good to be true.

Here is my advice…

Make up your mind today that you will never down-grade the value of your offer by talking like a cheap salesman. Networking is a mixture of skill and passion. Never ever let the thought of making a quick buck enter your mind while offering your opportunity to someone.

One of two things is going to happen:

1. They tell you to bug-off thinking you are a low-life scamming twit
2. They will join your opportunity just to find out that you lied to them and this is even worse because that person will never trust you again.

When you introduce someone to you opportunity, make absolutely sure you don’t raise falls expectations. Tell them that network marketing like any other business in the world takes time and commitment.

Tell them that many people fail at this business. Tell them that they will need to sell. Tell them that many people are opposed to this type of business.

Tell them that network marketing has the capability to make them financially free but it will take hard work from their side.

Whenever a person comes to me with an offer, I like to know exactly what to expect. I believe many people will have a different outlook at building a network marketing business if the person who introduced the concept to them, talked the truth.

It is totally true that there are easier ways of building a profitable business than harassing everyone within two feet but you need to tell your prospects exactly how without making it sound that the money will roll in automatically.
